Community Living

Though not usually at the top of the list before people arrive, many find the people they meet to be a highlight of their trip.

It’s not always easy, but it is raw, real, and rewarding. By connecting with each other we have the opportunity for deeper understanding of ourselves and our humanity. The off-grid nature of this lifestyle reminds us how to rely on ourselves, each other, and the land we share. The international nature of Punta Mona means exposure to a diverse range of cultures and backgrounds. These blended perspectives have created a unique culture of understanding and direct communication. Our compassionate community will help you settle in as you adjust to our way of life and the culture of our community.

Farm and Gardening

There’s much to learn from this land. Come share in the joy of getting your hands dirty. Here, Sam and Celia are using bamboo to make a new trellis.

Most mornings have a group project in the farm. We find joy seeing many hands tackle a big project. They are often physical activities and at the end of the morning something has transformed before your eyes. In addition to our community pushes, there are countless smaller projects going on at any time. Some people even decide to care for a specific garden bed for their entire stay. Connecting with a smaller area is a chance to see how the plants grow and change over time. We love empowering people to learn new things so don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions.

Become a Jungle Chef

Our kitchen is the heart of the community. Come and love on some food with us.

Our beautiful outdoor kitchen is a creative space where we infuse all our incredible ingredients with love and intention. We’re always exploring in our kitchen, as It’s hard to have a set menu when what you’re cooking depends on what was harvested each day. We’re always experimenting with new ways to use ingredients, and our international community makes for a fusion of flavors and styles. We will provide you with an orientation and get you harvesting and cooking alongside of us. Come learn some new skills and share any you already have.

Processing Lab

Our lab is where we process foods and medicines (and often ideas and emotions too). TJ and Fine are seen here processing pineapple pups to be planted in our gardens.

You’ll often find people hanging out and processing plants and food, making medicinal teas and tinctures, or fermenting fruits and vegetables. Once you’ve been oriented on the space and how to harvest responsibly, you’ll be welcome to make your own medicines to share and take home. It’s a great place to connect with people and plants.

Additional Opportunities

Part of the magic of Punta Mona is that it is an ever-changing reflection of the unique people sharing the space. We are a collaborative kaleidoscope of passions and experiences. Many impromptu classes and workshops pop up organically based on the knowledge and experience of the people at Punta Mona. This could be yoga, a new kitchen technique, a hike to explore surrounding areas, or basket weaving to name a few.
Do you have something your excited to share with us during your visit? Tells us about them in your application. We love to learn!
